Spanish Dancer Series

Dancers are a theme that have run through my work for more than 20 years. The graceful movements, the technical aspects, the costume, the cultural 

connotations are all elements that I consider. But, truthfully, I love drawing and painting the human form. Using various techniques such as water resists, crackling and drips, I play with the spacial arrangements, abstracting some areas while insinuating depth in others. Although my work is representational, I look to artists such as Mark Rothko and Anselm Kiefer for inspiration.  I plan on doing at least 4 more in this series and hope to have them complete this fall.
